Chim, it was news to me as well. I was in a Spanish bar watching and the landlord and a customer took interest as they had nothing better to do. I said, something like oh fuck and there is no VAR in the Europe League and they told me yes there is!
They were obviously right.
One of them said the Austrian guy should have had a yellow card!

I can’t believe we’re top of a group in a European competition! I keep smiling to myself.

I had fuck all Idea that VAR would be used as I took my seat 10 minutes before kickoff.

Does that make me a shit fan?

I actually thought that a mainly shitty ref was pretty good at overturning his original decision, so good on him.

the only reason the ref watched the pen incident so many times on the monitor was to make it look like a close decision to cover up his utter incompetence in giving the pen in the first place

How did no one not know that VAR was in use? They played a video twice before the game explaining when VAR would be used and for what offences/mistakes.

It's perfectly possible in the LS, esp when you are sitting in the lower tier at the same end and side of the pith that the incident happened, have you even been there?

Nobel was always going to start in the first european home game. Especially in his final season. And it did show at times how much Father Time has caught up with him. And how much the rest of the squad has progress under Moyes. Kral is the future.
